Euphoria in the markets: a change in the rules of the game?

Investors have taken a very positive view of both the US election result and the good news about the forthcoming vaccine. Alberto Matellán, chief economist at MAPFRE Inversión, raises six questions that investors should ask themselves on the back of this news driving the change in market sentiment.

Matellán explains, in an interview with A Media Sesión on Radio Intereconomía, the real reasons behind the stock market rally of the last few days, beyond Joe Biden’s victory and advances with the vaccine. In addition, he analyzes the sectors that are going to benefit most from market improvements and offers his recommendations to retail investors.

In an article published in the El Confidencial newspaper, Gonzalo de Cadenas-Santiago, director of macroeconomic and financial analysis at MAPFRE Economics, dissects the election result in the United States, which looks set to usher in a change of direction in key aspects of US political, economic and foreign relations management.

“ESG funds have proven to be more profitable and less volatile”

Eduardo Ripollés, director of institutional business at MAPFRE AM, and Jonathan Boyar, director of the Boyar Value Group, presented the strategies of both firms at an annual event held by Zona Value. Ripollés focused on MAPFRE AM’s range of ESG funds, while Boyar gave some hints on how his firm carries out its analysis of the Forgotten Forty, those stocks ignored by the market. MAPFRE AM and Boyar recently launched an American equity fund.
