Fundación MAPFRE is funding these COVID-19 tests at the corona treatment center, recently opened in the German capital.

Fundación MAPFRE has donated 230,000 euros to THW to enable German healthcare workers to carry out a total of 28,750 coronavirus tests at a new temporary hospital built recently to ease pressure on emergency departments and avoid saturation of the country’s medical centers.

The corona treatment center, located in the Berlin exhibition grounds, at the heart of the German capital, covers an area of 12,000 square meters and can accommodate around 1,000 people suffering from the illness.

THW (Technisches Hilfswerk — German Federal Agency for Technical Relief) is an organization with 80,000 volunteers. It is working in close coordination with the German government to limit the impact of the pandemic.

“Fundación MAPFRE is strongly committed on a global scale to minimizing the negative impact of COVID-19 on both society and the economy. Thanks to this donation, we can help patients and save lives,” said José Ramón Alegre, CEO of Verti in Germany and Fundación MAPFRE representative in the country.
