Appointments at MAPFRE
MAPFRE has appointed Eva Piera Rojo as General Manager of External Relations to promote the institutional presence of the company at a global level.
This newly created General Management Division includes the Corporate Communication Division, the Corporate Advertising, Branding and CSR Division and the Protocol Department.
Eva Piera has broad professional experience in the financial field, where she held important responsible positions in the Grupo Société Génerale, as well as in Public Administration, where the positions she held included Deputy Minister of Economy, Commerce and Consumption in the Community of Madrid from 2006 to 2012, and President of a number of finance companies within this Community. She has held the position of Global Institutional Relations Manager for the BBVA Group since 2013. She has a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and has completed a number of management programs in the IESE.
She will be joining MAPFRE on October 1, 2017.
The Board of Directors has also approved the appointment of Jonas Jonsson as Group Chief Life Business Officer. Mr Johnson will join the Corporate Business, Clients and Innovation Area to strengthen MAPFRE’s position in this important insurance line.
Jonas Jonsson has developed his professional career fundamentally in the Skandia Group, where he joined the insurance and financial services area in 1994. His other responsibilities have included CFO for Skandia for the European and Latin American Division; CEO of Skandia Colombia; and from 2009 to 2012 CEO for Germany, France and Switzerland and supervisor for the Long-Term Savings Division. Since June 2012 he has been CEO of the Swedbank Group insurance company. His qualifications include a degree in Mathematics, Company Administration and Economics from the University of Karlstad and he has completed a number of Senior Management programs in institutions such as the Harvard Business School.
He will be joining MAPFRE on October 1, 2017.
The company has also appointed Alexis Sánchez Geigel as CEO of MAPFRE PUERTO RICO, effective as of January 1, 2018 when the current CEO will retire.
Sánchez Geigel, a citizen of the United States, joined MAPFRE in 1991 and since then has occupied a number of responsible positions within the company. In 2013 he assumed the functions of Executive Vice Chairman and COO for Puerto Rico, the position which he currently holds. He has degree in Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business-Indiana University.
