Six warning signs that you should distrust bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

Many young people have decided to invest in cryptocurrencies without doing the corresponding research. Alberto Matellán, chief economist at MAPFRE Inversión, offers a variety of tips for the less-experienced investor and cautions that recent events are showing that this phenomenon “is more like a gamble than an investment”.

“Investors have created such high expectations that risk of disappointment has increased”

After closing out a first half marked by growth and high expectations, the markets are facing the second half of the year with their eyes firmly set on expanding the delta variant. On Radio Intereconomía, Alberto Matellán, chief economist of MAPFRE Inversión, points out that the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector will be reduced, thanks to how the economy has adapted to the situation.

Sustainability is creeping into corporate investment decisions as a topic of debate. José Luis Jiménez, MAPFRE’s group chief investment officer, took part in the Wealth Management and Sustainability event organized by the IEAF and the San Pablo Andalucía CEU Foundation, and stressed that, in order to maintain sustainable growth, investments must be made with a sustainable, social and governance approach.

After a very difficult year, the Group continues to be one of the leading European insurers. Despite the fact that Europe’s largest insurance companies recorded a 4.9 percent drop in premium volume as a result of the pandemic, MAPFRE was one of the 10 insurers that managed to improve their solvency ratio during 2020.

This new insurance solution, aimed at building wealth through investment funds, will facilitate Mexicans in securing their assets and planning for their retirement, as well achieving their own wealth management goals.
