With the Cool Biz initiative, during the warmer months we encourage lighter clothing. This allows us to raise the air conditioning temperature by one degree and save energy. When the colder weather arrives, Warm Biz invites us to do the opposite: wear warmer clothing and adopt simple habits that help reduce our reliance on heating. Two simple initiatives with a shared goal: maintain comfort and reduce the environmental impact with everyday habits.
Small changes make a difference. Adjusting the air conditioning in summer by one degree can mean up to 7% less electricity consumption in air conditioning, reducing emissions and contributing to our 2030 Environmental Footprint Plan.
But this is not a one-off campaign. Energy efficiency is part of the way we work. Since 2022, we have reduced energy bills by 26% and the carbon footprint in our buildings by 65%, thanks to measures such as:
- Using 100% renewable electricity
- Installing solar panels
- Eliminating fossil fuels in heating
- Improving energy performance in our buildings
Cool Biz and Warm Biz are part of this commitment, offering a practical and easy-to-adopt approach that turns sustainability into concrete, shared, and measurable actions. With initiatives like this, Mapfre turns its environmental commitment into specific and measurable actions.
