Ecuador receives ventilator prototypes and healthcare supplies worth over 256,000 euros
In April, Ecuador received the first two ventilator prototypes designed to help patients suffering the most serious COVID-19 cases. This equipment is currently undergoing testing in the country to ensure that it can be used imminently. To achieve this, The Open Ventilator, the project that designed the ventilator prototype, is training a group of technicians and doctors from the country.
Over the next few days, if requested by the Ecuadorian authorities, The Open Ventilator will deliver a greater number of prototypes for distribution to hospitals in areas with the most cases.
The equipment is part of a Fundación MAPFRE donation totaling 256,274 euros, which includes: 36,496 euros donated to the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil to buy test kits; medical equipment with a value in excess of 57,000 euros, donated by Fundación MAPFRE to the Karla Morales Foundation; a donation of over 13,000 euros to the Fire Department of Guayaquil to purchase disinfection equipment; and another donation of almost 13,000 euros received by the Ecuadorian Navy to purchase medical equipment.
