MAPFRE has continued broadening the scope of its Environmental Management System Certification, which was first awarded to the company in 2006, and which shows a substantial and sustained improvement in MAPFRE's ability to meet the environmental objectives it has committed itself to, in addition to ensuring ongoing compliance with all relevant legal environmental requirements.

For the first time, ISO 14001 Certification has been awarded to MAPFRE companies overseas. MAPFRE insurance companies in PUERTO RICO and COLOMBIA join the group now comprising 11 companies in Spain which, together with FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE, CESVIMAP and all MULTISEVICAR workshops, are already accredited with this certification.

The ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certification standard covers five principal MAPFRE corporate centers, including the registered head office, two territorial headquarters and the building that houses IT corporate management.

Thanks to the cooperation and involvement of all those who work in MAPFRE, and led by the Corporate Information, Security and Environment Area, more than 5,700 MAPFRE employees now work in locations that are certified to these standards.

In these challenging times, and in line with the company's socially responsible principles, the MAPFRE Group remains committed to the integration of environmental criteria into global company management practices, thereby enhancing brand awareness while also complying with the standards laid down in the UN Global Compact of 2004.
