“We reaffirm our commitment to equal opportunities and to championing female talent across our organization. This conviction has guided us for decades, and today, it’s reflected in facts, figures, and visible results in the nearly 40 countries where we operate,” stated Juan Carlos Rondeau, General Manager of the Corporate People and Organization Area at Mapfre. He went on to emphasize that “diversity, inclusion, and equality are commitments we stand behind, because they help build a fairer, more inclusive world.”
Mapfre joins International Women’s Day, held this Sunday, March 8, with the #JuntosCerramosBrechas campaign, which defends closing all types of gaps and promoting talent in all countries where it operates.
The company has lit up its headquarters in purple to mark the occasion, which stands for gender equality, celebrates women’s achievements, shines a light on the challenges that remain, and encourages active participation in the fight for equality.
Out of 30,846 employees worldwide, more than half (55.1%) are women.Mapfre’s Board of Directors includes seven women, representing 46.7% of its total membership; 43.1% of managerial positions are performed by female talent; the percentage of women in management positions is 35.4% (0.9% more than in 2024); and the company’s female employees accounted for more than half of internal promotions (50.3%) and new hires (54.6%) in 2025.
Diversity Policy
Since 2015, the company has implemented a Policy on Diversity and Equal Opportunities, which has enabled it to make progress and meet its commitments in this area, including increasing the percentage of women in management positions to 36% (the 2026 goal). This commitment has helped Mapfre España secure the Equality in the Workplace Distinction for the past decade.
Mapfre aims to create a workplace where everyone has the same opportunities to grow professionally as men.
The 4th Equality Plan, which will remain in effect until March 2027, includes measures across nine areas. These measures involve creating an action protocol to prevent sexual harassment and gender-based harassment, reinforcing the company’s commitment to training and raising awareness about equality and unconscious biases, and setting up a dedicated section on the Intranet, which also includes resources and support for victims of gender violence, among other initiatives.
Closing the gap
Mapfre has been taking specific actions for years that have made the group a benchmark and enabled it to continue strengthening the role of women in companies. It’s also a founding partner of the ClosinGap association, which analyzes key gender gaps, measures their impact, and highlights the opportunity cost of not closing these gaps.
In addition, the Group organizes workshops and internal meetings for women to identify key factors that support their career advancement, as well as initiatives like #ChicasImparables (#Unstoppable Girls), a “Leadership Path” for girls aged 15 to 18 in Spain. This program offers a unique learning experience where participants can develop responsible leadership skills, key professional competencies, and entrepreneurial thinking.
