The results achieved show its progress and constant commitment to sustainability.
Particularly noteworthy is its performance in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), conducted annually by rating agency S&P Global. MAPFRE earned a score of 81 out of 100, a nine-point improvement from 2023, placing it among the top 10 insurers worldwide in ESG rankings. The company has also been included for the sixth consecutive year in the Sustainability Yearbook 2025, S&P’s prestigious annual publication that recognizes the companies most committed to society and the planet.
Also, MAPFRE has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series, with a score of 3.9 out of 5, exceeding by half a point the average of companies in the sector analyzed, which is 3.4. Created by the global index and data provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate solid ESG practices, in particular in areas such as the corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption, and climate change. Their evaluations are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and evaluate responsible mutual funds and other products.
Climate change, employment, and transparency
MAPFRE’s strong commitment to combating climate change has allowed the company to maintain its position in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), where it achieved one of the highest scores this year: a “Leadership” rating (A-).
It has also excelled in the social sphere, particularly for fostering a positive work environment, retaining talent, promoting learning, and encouraging diversity and inclusion. These efforts have contributed to its recognition as a Top Employer and its place in the Top 20 of the best companies to work for in Spain.
The 2024 report by Fundación Haz on transparency and good governance in compliance practices among IBEX35 companies highlights MAPFRE’s ongoing commitment to transparency and sound governance. The report points to positive progress in key compliance indicators, particularly in areas such as corporate governance and sustainability. Last year, MAPFRE climbed the rankings, securing second place in the financial services sector and fourth among listed companies overall, entering the category of “transparent companies” for the first time.
Responsible business
The company also stands out for its commitment to socially responsible investment, with funds recognized under Article 8 (SFDR), such as MAPFRE AM European Equities, MAPFRE AM Iberian Equities, MAPFRE AM Good Governance, MAPFRE AM Capital Responsible, and MAPFRE AM Inclusión Responsible. Funds of this type incorporate environmental and social characteristics into investment decisions. The latter two also have the SRI Label, granted by the French Ministry of Finance following a strict audit process carried out by independent organizations. This label is a unique benchmark for investors that want to participate in a more sustainable economy.
