Mapfre is once again joining Earth Hour, an initiative led by WWF. This campaign calls for collective action to address climate change through energy savings and more efficient use of resources, at a time when temperature records continue to be broken and their impacts are becoming increasingly visible, including devastating wildfires, unprecedented flooding, and extreme weather events.
Under the slogan “Switch off for our world,” this Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, lights will be turned off in some of the most iconic buildings and offices worldwide.
Last year, more than 260 buildings and offices across 24 countries joined the initiative.
The company has been taking part in this campaign since 2009 as a further demonstration of its commitment to fighting climate change, a challenge it is addressing through an ambitious Environmental Footprint Plan, which aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2030 compared with 2022 levels.
In 2025, the company reduced electricity consumption in buildings across the 25 countries where it operates by 32%, thanks to measures such as installing 9,000 photovoltaic panels, optimizing workspace use, investing in more efficient heating and lighting equipment, and purchasing renewable energy from solar, wind, and hydropower sources. These measures resulted in savings of 40 million kWh.
