The main types of insurance related to the environment are detailed below

MAPFRE incorporates in its commercial insurance, without additional cost, the new coverage of environmental responsibility, increasing the security and protection of the companies and contributing to the improvement of the natural environment.

First comprehensive insurance for use with electric, hybrid and ecological vehicles. This product is available in Spain.

Policy that covers lack of sun or wind in photovoltaic and wind generation plants. This product is available in Spain.

Insurance that covers the different phases (design, construction, commissio-ning and operation) of large renewable energy plants (thermal solar and wind). This product is made available by MAP-FRE GLOBAL RISKS, MAPFRE RE and MAPFRE ASISTENCIA.

Policy that covers the shortfall in the energy savings obtained as compared to the initial estimate in implementing LED installations. This product is available in Spain.

Insurance designed specifically for repairing environmental damages. - This product is made available by MAP-FRE GLOBAL RISKS, MAPFRE RE and MAPFRE ASISTENCIA. These are also available in the United States and Brazil through the Insurance Unit.

Insurance that includes Third-Party Liability coverage for contamination. This product is available in Mexico.

Until 2010, the main actions related to SIGMAYE were focused on Spain, most particularly in those buildings housing the head offices and regional offices of Group companies, as well as in those facilities that house other MAPFRE entities and functions, such as MULTISERVICAR repair shops, the CESVIMAP research center and SALUD 4 polyclinics.

The corporate and global nature of the system that has been developed has facilitated MAPFRE in successively deploying said system around the world, and after approving the Environmental Expansion Strategic Plan in 2010, we started working on the local implementation of our Environmental and Energy Management System in those countries with a more mature insurance sector in 2012, the details of which can be seen in the accompanying graph:

As a result of this process, 9,644 MAPFRE employees now work in buildings certified to ISO 14001 standards.
