The Fundación Canaria MAPFRE GUANARTEME is a private non-profit organisation which was established by the mutualists of Mutua Guanarteme on 22 June 1984. Its main objective is to further social development and cultural promotion throughout the Canary Islands by adopting and incorporating universal values with the aim of enriching the region of the Canaries and to disseminate the particular features of this area’s culture outside the region.

To achieve these goals, the Foundation carries out activities in the following areas:

• Training for professionals, aimed at providing support to help new graduates find work and improving their professional qualifications. This work is currently carried out by the institution itself in collaboration with Escoex, Fundación Bravo Murillo.
• Art and Culture, aimed at instilling an educational element in each activity. Of particular interest are the art exhibitions held in our exhibition rooms and concerts.
• Social action, aimed at improving the quality of life among a number of the more disadvantaged sectors of society.

The Foundation focuses in particular on the publications issued for the activities carried out: exhibition catalogues, talks given at courses, research projects, as well as authors with a cultural significance for the society of the Canary Islands.
