Independently of the different principles that govern the
behaviour of MAPFRE GROUP and FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE,
according to the different nature of its activities, the
behaviour of the entities within the SISTEMA MAPFRE
should adjust to the following principles:
- Independence with regard to all persons,
organizations, groups or powers of any kind.
- Ethically and socially responsible behaviour,
in recognition of the function and responsibility
corresponding to private entities in the proper
development and progress of Society, and which
should result in the respect for the legitimate
rights of all individuals or corporations they are
related with and of that of Society in general.
In this spirit, MAPFRE takes part in the United Nations
Global Compact and in the Protocol of the United Nations
Environment Programme, and chooses to embrace in an
effective way the commitments to human rights and
sustainable development that are featured in these accords.
- Humanism, understood as the special attention
paid to persons, based on the conviction that those
who make up the SISTEMA MAPFRE are an essential part
thereof, and which entails that the relations among
them must be governed by mutual respect and human
values such as tolerance, cordiality and solidarity,
in such a way that their activities are carried out
in an environment of internal cohesion, confidence
and enthusiasm.
- Rigorous separation between the activities of
MAPFRE GROUP, aimed at creating value for all its
shareholders, and the activities of FUNDACIÓN
MAPFRE, whose goals are of a social nature and not-for-profit.
